ORC LINKING PARTICIPANT, ROUND 2, WEEK 4

Welcome to the One Room Challenge Linking Party!  If you are new here, the ORC is created by Linda of Calling it Home where a group of 20 bloggers design a room in 6 weeks.  Last year, Linda was kind enough to host an ORC Linking Party where 70 something bloggers joined in the fun (including me!) She is hosting another one this year and on this round, I am redoing my girls' room.  We are at week four.
If you missed the previous weeks, you can check them out here.

I only managed to do a couple of things last week.

I was able to reupholster one of the waterfall stools...

We also got the faux sheepskin rug.  It is so fluffy and pretty and more importantly, the girls love it.  I think it makes the room.  I'm considering ordering a smaller one for the study room.

I'm not sure if I like the Henredon nightstand in this room.  The scale is a little off and I'm not liking the burl against the aqua wall.
(What do you think?)

My older daughter, Alex, likes this ikea expedit better (from the basement playroom)...
I don't hate it but I like to incorporate a piece of wooden furniture in this room.  Unless I find the perfect piece in two weeks, this may have to do for now.  (or I'll try the burl again once the room is done and see how it looks. DADD much?!)

I did a little sprucing up by changing the knobs...

and a little styling...

The venetian mirror is up too...
(yes, this room is on a slight angle ;) , no time to edit!)

As for the study room, I was only able to paint the mirror going above the sectional...

(this mirror came with the dresser)

I still have to...

1.  Update the headboards
2. DIY a pelmet box
3.  Recover the waterfall stools (one more to go)
4. DIY the bedskirts and pillows
5. Purchase the mirror and rug
6. Paint the dresser
7.  Figure out the chandelier
8.  Accessorize

And for the study room..
1.  Repaint the Etageres in coral pink
2. Replace the area rug and chair
3. Paint and hang a mirror above the sectional
4.  Unsure if I want to replace the wallpaper or just cover that entire wall with art.
5.  Accessorize

Gah!  I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

Let's check out what the others are doing!

ORC LINKING PARTICIPANT, ROUND 2, WEEK 3

Welcome to week 3 of the one room challenge.  We are halfway through and I have so much to do!
(Check out week one and two if you missed them.)

I narrowed down my fabric choices...
I used the flame stitch fabric last week to recover the pelmet box (and will also be using it to reupholster the waterfall stools).
The "Adele Springtime" floral fabric is from Calico Corners and will be used as pillow covers.

I got the other two from Jo-Ann's for the bedskirts...

I basically just followed the same steps I used for the guest room from the last ORC...

(I used the pink fabric for the corners for some contrast)

I was also able to purchase the rug.  My 9 yo really wanted a fluffy rug so I got this white faux sheepskin rug by Home Decorators.

Here's a tip - I purchased mine through Home Depot because they offer free shipping (and on sale now too!)

That's all I have for you this week.

I still have to...

1.  Update the headboards
2. DIY a pelmet box
3.  Recover the waterfall stools with the flame stitch fabric
4. DIY the bedskirts and pillows
5. Purchase the mirror and rug
6. Paint the dresser
7.  Figure out the chandelier
8.  Accessorize

And for the study room..
1.  Repaint the Etageres in coral pink
2. Replace the area rug and chair
3.  Hang a mirror above the sectional
4.  Unsure if I want to replace the wallpaper or just cover that entire wall with art.
5.  Accessorize

Eeek!

Now let's check out what the others are doing.
Thanks for following along!

ORC LINKING PARTICIPANT, ROUND 2, WEEK 2

Welcome to week 2 of the One Room Challenge Linking Party.  If you missed week one, check it out here.

I managed to do the pelmet box last week.  I was going to DIY it from scratch but I scored this at my local ReStore a few weeks ago...
(Nice shape and perfect size for my window.  For $5, it was a no brainer)

I basically just recovered it with this flame stitch fabric I got from an estate sale (a whole roll of it!)...

I took note of how it was originally done and just went to town with my staple gun...

 I also added contrasting piping...

Voila!
(Yes, that's a christmas wreath.  We took them down last weekend. Finally.)

Oh, and the venetian mirror arrived yesterday...

I got it from Amazon.  If you are on the hunt, I highly recommend.   It is priced really well too.

As if my list it not long enough, I also decided to update Sabrina's room  which is going to be the Study room.

Before...
A tiny room which is actually connected to the Girls' room separated by walk in closet.

This is what it looks now...
(I moved the bamboo etageres from Alex's room.)

I'm not going to go crazy with this room, just a few updates...

1.  Repaint the Etageres in coral pink
2. Replace the area rug and chair
3.  Hang a mirror above the sectional
4.  Unsure if I want to replace the wallpaper or just cover that entire wall with art.
5.  Accessorize

And so far...

1.  Update the headboards
2. DIY a pelmet box
3.  Recover the waterfall stools with the flame stitch fabric
4. DIY the bedskirts and pillows
5. Purchase the mirror and rug
6. Paint the dresser
7.  Figure out the chandelier
8.  Accessorize

Next week is Spring Break week for us so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get something done.
(Follow me on instagram for updates - @mybestfriendcraig)
Speaking of updates, I got the parsons chairs from the upholsterer the other day.  Can't wait to show you!

Don't forget to check out what the other participants are up to and of course the original 20!

Happy Thursday!
