PAINT A RUG PARTY - THE PROGRESS

I love all the Madeline Weinrib rugs I showed you last week but I ended up using this pattern...

The Sherwin Williams Easychange wallpaper from our first bathroom redesign?
(I saved some of it when I took it down)

I cut a portion of the wallpaper

and started tracing the pattern with a sharpie pen...

The area rug is a plain gray rug I got from Big Lots for $20.

Then I painted some of the pattern orange using all purpose acrylic paint from Michael's...

I'm now in the process of painting over the black sharpie with white latex paint...

I ran out of orange acrylic paint before I finished the first coat. I bought flat latex orange paint(Sherwin Williams - fiesta orange) instead for better coverage.  (Notice the color difference of the 3rd and 4th rows from the top.)
It obviously needs a another coat.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to add pink.
It is very time consuming though!!!

What do you guys think?

DIY: INLAY DESK

Well, I did it!

{This used to be our dining table.  I primed it first then added one coat of Marina Gray paint by Benjamin Moore in Satin.  The inlay part is leftover paint, Atrium White also by Ben Moore.}

I love how it turned out!!!  It looks like the real deal, don't you think?!

PAINT A RUG PARTY!

I've joined a PAINT A RUG PARTY spearheaded by none other than Linda from My Crafty Home Life!  (She is also the creator of the One Room Challenge.)

For this party, we are given three weeks to paint a rug.  It's that simple(I hope).
Here's our schedule...

Week one - Thursday, September 20th, the PLAN
Week two - Thursday, September 27th, the PROGRESS
Week three - Thursday, October 4th, the REVEAL

 My plan is to paint a rug for my office. (Sorry, you're probably tired of hearing me talk about it.)

Here is my inspiration photo...

 I'm not crazy enough to even try and recreate this rug but I am loving the orange rug with the pink bergere.
So orange rug it is!
Since I've never done this before, my goal is to use less money as possible and use materials I already have just in case this project goes south.

Here are some orange rugs I'm liking...

I'm also digging the orange and pink rugs...

{All are Madeline Weinrib rugs except for the 1st one}

Come back next Thursday to see the progress!
Also, make sure to check out the other 11 bloggers participating in this paint a rug party...

DESK ACCESSORIES AND OFFICE UPDATE

Since I'm trying to carve out my own office space in the basement,  I'm on the lookout for some fun desk accessories.  Here's a roundup of some of my favorites...

desk accessories

I also finished painting the desk part of the campaign furniture...

I went with Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore.

Just so you know what I'm working with, here's a picture of the basement when we first saw the house...
{More oak!  We already painted the trim white and the walls the same color as the living/dining room about a year ago}

Since I'm going to hang out here more often,  I've decided to paint the kitchen cabinets as well.  I've always loved the look of  two-toned kitchens so I'm going to paint the island the same gray as the campaign and the rest white.
 {I'm placing the "mother of pearl" inlay desk on the right and the pink bergere next to it.  I'm not sure what to do with the doors yet}

I have my work cut out for me!!!

I think it will be worth it in the end!
