FIRE PIT CHAIRS

Spring is in the air!  Finally we can enjoy this nice weather and spend some time outside.  There's nothing better than sitting outside on a cool evening around a fire pit and making smores (and drinking wine!)...

Do you have one?
We have a portable one but we are thinking of building a more permanent one.  The fun part(for me) is choosing the chairs that would go around it.

Here are some of my favorites...

OFFICE TWEAKING

I found the perfect credenza for Mark's office at my local ReStore...
($35!  Can't beat that.  It needs a top and a fresh coat of paint.)

Mark's office

My plan was to paint the credenza navy and replace the chippendale chairs with the orange chairs I got recently...
(and finally hang the lucite ribbon chandelier I got last year)
and tie it all up with a nice antique persian rug..

BUT apparently,  blue + orange = NY METS.  Mark was not so thrilled (big Yankee fan).
To his credit, he lets me decorate the rest of the house the way I want to so decorating his office (aka man cave) the way he wants to is really not a lot to ask.

Although I love the plan above, I'm the first to admit that it is a little too feminine for a man cave.
So, I'm back to my original plan of painting the credenza red. (Red=Rutgers and not Red Sox!)...

(I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the lounge chair and the bamboo chairs here)

(I'll probably end up reupholstering the pink chairs and moving the orange chairs to my office)

What do you think?

CRAIGSLIST MONDAY: CHROME CHAIRS

I should just change my blog name to CHAIRmaine!  :)

vintage leather and chrome chair (maybe orignal Wassily?!)

I'm finally working on the Playhouse under the stairs. (I changed the original plan quite a bit). Hopefully I'll have a reveal for you soon.  Here's a little peak  I posted on Instagram last Friday(you can follow me @mybestfriendcraig)...

Oh, and a BIG Thank you to The Aestate for including me in her Instastalking list!  Such an honor to be featured alongside some of my favorite Instagrammers!
You can check out her list here and here.

Happy Monday!

NEW ART BY JENNY ANDREWS

If you don't know who Jenny Andrews is, you are missing out!  Jenny is the author of one of my favorite blogs, My Favorite and My Best.  She is extremely talented, very funny,  a cool mom to Fiona, and an awesome artist.  I recently commissioned a piece from her...

"Tremble" by Jenny Andrews
18 x 24 acrylic and oil pastel on paper

(I used a Ribba frame from Ikea and had the double matting custom cut from Michael's.
I bought the brass lamp from this seller on ebay.)

I love!  It makes me smile every time I look at it.
(And yes, I went back to Antiques on Second and bought the pair of brass chairs.  They are temporarily here but will probably end up in Mark's office.  More on this later)

You may also remember this photo from this post...
(another Jenny Andrews, "They Never Came Out")

As you can tell, I'm a BIG fan!

Check out Jenny's Art Gallery here and her shop here.
She is so pleasant to work with and her pieces are VERY reasonable!

CRAIGSLIST MONDAY: LOVESEAT/SETTEE

Besides chair,  I also have a weakness for settee/loveseat.  As Suzanne and Lauren McGrath indicated in their book, "Good Bones, Great Pieces",  the loveseat is the most versatile piece of furniture.   From the starter apartment to the foot of the bed or breakfast nook, it is capable of taking on many roles...
