THRIFTING!

I stopped by ReStore yesterday and guess what I found...

Chinese chippendale style octagon coffee table!
It was priced at $45 plus 50% off furniture sale... $23.65!  Score!
I see it painted, black or white lacquer maybe?

Or maybe a fun color...

Any tips on how to lacquer furniture?

Charmaine! LOVE IT! Yours actually looks better than all of those pictures.

I love a high gloss lacquer and have done it to a few items. Best advice I got from some pro's at the paint store was to use an oil based paint to acheive the best sheen. Especially for items in high-use areas. Holds up better. Get the highest gloss finish you can in an oil based paint. Also, use a quality primer like Zinser or Adhesion Primer by Duron. After you rough the wood up a bit, add the primer and the high-gloss adheres so much better.

That would look so fierce in a black or even KELLY GREEN gloss!

What an awesome find!! I don't have any tips to offer, but I do think it would look amazing in a bright color. I'm always partial to Kelly Green like Bethany suggested. Ohhh can't wait to see what you end up doing.

Ooohh...this is fab, and that price CANNOT be beat, though your living room is already pretty gorgeous and doesn't need anything else! I saw go for a fun color...teal immediately came to mind. I agree with the first commenter--go for a high gloss paint if you want the highest shine and most durable finish. :)
