BEFORE AND AFTER: STAIRCASE

It took us nearly 3 years to paint the staircase.

This is how it looked like when we first saw the house...

I painted the balusters white 5 months after...

Got rid of the runner a year after that...

After another 5 months, we had the risers professionally painted in white...

Then, I painted the newel posts high gloss black a couple of months ago...

Finally, last weekend I finished painting the handrails high gloss black too...

I love the modern feel of the black and white combined with the warmth of the wood.

Do you like it as much as I do?

  3. I love it! I wish I could show you ours befor when we bought the house! It was also honey walnut but luckily the banisters were white already, so we just had the rails repainted espresso brown and carpeted the stairs ( noise was our issue with just bare wood ) with a very nice striped brown carpet. Will show you pics one of these days! Good job on the painting!

  11. Nice, Charmaine! The black looks so glossy, too. This serves as a reminder that I REALLY need to have my bannister updated!
